Interesting O2 Adverts.

And the latest…

“We’re better connected.”

Remember watching these videos quite a few years back. Imagine how fun this would actually be when you gather a group of people and carry the drawings out. The styles and colouring and at the same time the way in which it was produced through time-lapse just makes it more than eye-candy.

Part 3

It would be an interesting feat if we could pull together a collaboration piece by using light-painting as the medium. Below are just some of the few great examples that was stumbled upon during developing for an approach.

Not exactly light painting but a stop-motion video done with flares:

Further building towards a more poetic approach on things, this video by the Kilimajaro Darkjazz Ensemble remains at the back of my mind when it comes to working with the task about touching the sky. That task in particular does have a large amount of possibilities in which it could be approached with.

Apparat – Arcadia

This music video might somehow relates to the idea of touching the sky…in an ironic manner.

A documentary to help me out for the destructio nof the Berlin Wall task.

And what’s The Hoff doing there…? Oh god.

Rodin Rhode simply does an amazing job when it comes to incorporating simple yet fun-like street drawings to his performance. The style is so simple, it just makes it absolutely awesome.

For more of his stuff, clicky.

Stumbled upon this piece of interesting articles from CR Blog on Nicholas Felton’s work.

Here’s a couple example:

There’s something really interesting about this statistical data presentation that made it particularly likable. Perhaps its the use of colours, or maybe the way in which it’s being presented but regardless I find this particular series of work done by Nicholas Felton to be quite… fascinating.

Visual Rhetoric

February 10, 2009

Visual Rhetoric January 2009 -

This unit will look at recurring themes in visual representation; its aim is to look at the concept of originality. Can a purely original idea still be achieved or are we continually re-contextualising various themes, concepts and applicants that have been in existence for centuries?

An example would be the cliche and how, when placed in a knowing context (i.e. irony) the idea becomes relevant and able to communicate on a new level. Recurring themes will be explored in the context of new media. Are there recurring themes and ideas evolving that are particular to digital practice? What is new?

  • Communication through visual concepts.
  • Relationship between the medium and the message.
  • Sign, symbol, metaphor and visual rhetoric.
  • Digital workshops.
  • Post-modernism as a graphic device.
